There are as many as twelve homeowners who have been involved with developing the planting palette suitable for areas in our development. We have been following the RGA recommendations of introducing more perennials that require less water than annuals. You can see examples of this at the corner of Cook and Fairway, the ingress and egress at the gate area and the planter bed seen immediately inside the gate.
This fall we will discuss the annual color. I have requested from Leon’s a list of perennials that we can use in addition to the annual color. Our annual color lasts six months and then is removed, leaving six months of bare dirt. Leon’s Landscaping is preparing a proposal in addition to a listing of plants that the committee will discuss in a meeting. We are ever-mindful of budgetary constraints and of course, this is an important consideration.
